Dunning Management
Dunning Management automatically retries a subscriber’s payment when a renewal charge fails — for example, due to an expired card or insufficient funds — instead of losing that subscriber immediately.
Enabling auto-retry
Section titled “Enabling auto-retry”From your Subsy dashboard, go to Dunning. The stat row shows Total attempts, Pending retry, Recovered, and Exhausted (attempts that used up all retries and still failed).
Use the Auto Retry Failed Payments toggle to turn this on or off.
Configuring retries
Section titled “Configuring retries”- Maximum Retries — how many times to retry a failed payment before giving up (e.g. 3 retries).
- Retry Schedule — how many days after the failure each retry happens. With the default of 3 retries, you’ll set Retry 1, Retry 2, and Retry 3, each with its own day offset (e.g. 3 days later, 7 days later, 14 days later).
Email notifications
Section titled “Email notifications”Turn on Send Email Notifications to automatically notify customers when their payment fails, so they have a chance to update their card before the subscription is affected further.
Click Save Settings once configured.
What happens when retries run out
Section titled “What happens when retries run out”If a payment still fails after all configured retries, the attempt is marked Exhausted. At that point, the subscription may be paused or flagged depending on your other settings — check the subscription’s status on the Managing Subscriptions page.
